MidYouth

In MidYouth Ministries we hope to bridge the gap between children and youth, providing a space for 10- to 13-year-olds to grow in love with God, their neighbors, and themselves!

Parent Info

Fifth through seventh grade is filled with many transitions from new schools, changing bodies, and questions about God! It is a different phase that is unique when compared to Children’s and Youth Ministries. In MidYouth Ministries we hope to bridge this gap, providing a space for 10- to 13-year-olds to grow in love with God, their neighbors, and themselves! During these formative years they will continue with grade based Sunday School, have Wednesday evening programming, and the opportunity to participate in special programming which includes Wonderfully Made, Confirmation, and traveling on retreats and missions!

Age Groups and Programs

MidYouth is for children in grades 5 through 7. These grades reflect the Conway Public School System. Opportunities to gather include Sunday morning during Sunday school and Wednesday night during Wonderful Wednesdays. Throughout the year 7th graders are also invited to participate in Confirmation. Confirmation is a time for 7th graders to claim their faith as their own and become members of the church.

Common FAQ's

Sunday School focuses on Bible Stories and Church History for our 5-7th graders. We hope this provides an intellectual and academic foundation for their faith development. Wednesday Night involves fellowship, small groups, and application of Christian values to their daily lives. Both are important for faith development and are different in content and purpose.

By baptism, parents and guardians take responsibility for the faith development of their children. You spend more time with them and have more influence on their lives and priorities. We hope to support and offer resources that will help you live out your covenant with God.

Anyone is welcome to participate in worship! Please talk to a pastor if your MidYouth would like to read scripture, usher, greet, or serve communion. They can share their musical gifts in worship with the MidYouth Choir and Bell groups. Additionally, they can acolyte in our sanctuary services.

MidYouth programming is primarily supported by the tithes and offerings that people give each month to the operating budget. Additionally, parents & members of the congregation sign up with our 1610 Plan and give $16.10 each month to support our youth in going on retreats and participating in missions. Giving is not a requirement to participate but if you would like to support midYouth programming financially, check out our giving page!

Church programming does not happen without parental involvement. You are invited to teach Sunday school, lead Wednesday Night Small Groups, and discuss programming content with your midYouth at home. There are special occasions and seasons when parents are needed to chaperone retreats and bring meals.

The MidYouth leadership team meets quarterly throughout the year to discuss and plan MidYouth programming and events. Anyone can participate in the meetings that happen from 12:30-2 on the designated Sunday after Church and we hope to have 5th, 6th, and 7th grade representatives. We hope the leadership opportunity helps develop your MidYouth in being a leader.

Our 5th Graders are invited to participate in Wonderfully made each spring. Over 4 weeks, you and your 5th grader are invited to participate in a Faith and Sexuality study designed for 10- to 12-year-olds.

Confirmation is a season within the Christian life in which someone chooses to be a Christian and a member of a specific church taking responsibility for their own faith journey. We invite our 7th graders to participate in a four month study of Christianity and the United Methodist Church. Confirmation is offered from October to January and ends with a retreat and a choice to be confirmed during worship. Confirmation meets weekly on Sunday evenings 4:30-6:30.
