Conway FUMC loves connecting with college students! We have Sunday School that meets in the parlor of the Trinity Building each Sunday at 10 am as well as worship on Wednesday nights at 7:30pm in the Chapel. And don’t miss out on our monthly dinners/game nights at the home of Sam and Amy Shores! We also invite students to plug-in to the life of the church as a whole, so we would love to help you find a place to use your gifts.
We partake in communion the first Wednesday of each month as part of our weekly worship service!
Yes, any college-aged person is welcome to join us at our weekly worship services or other events we hold throughout the semester. While we are the Methodist campus ministry, you do not have to have a Methodist background or consider yourself a Methodist to attend. Additionally, we denounce behavior that degrades or disparages individuals because of their gender identity, sexual orientation, skin tone, cultural background, etc.. We believe that God loves all people and in the same way, we are called to love our neighbor without exception.
Wesley is very casual! Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. You will see students in anything from scrubs to athletics shorts or a nice shirt and pants to sweats. Mostly, people will wear to worship that night whatever they wore to class earlier in the day.
In addition to our weekly worship services, we also offer various small groups throughout the school year. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook for the most up-to-date information on the small groups we are offering this semester. Serving in the community of Conway and on UCA’s campus is also extremely important to us. We are involved in both FUMC’s and UCA’s Food Pantries, as well as other services and outreach projects in connection with First United Methodist Church.
Yes! The Wesley House, located at 1903 College Ave, is open for all students to come hangout between classes, do laundry, grab a bite to eat, print assignments, study for classes, and even nap! There is almost always someone at the Wesley House Monday through Friday–just stop by!
We are open to all young adults in the Conway area (so students at UCA, Hendrix, and young adults who are working/pursuing other things!)
To find out more and connect with us, visit our website at www.ucawesley.org, or follow us on Instagram- @ucawesley!
Come join us anytime for events happening with the Wesley. We’d love to walk with you through faith!
I’m Amy Shores, and I work with college students/young adults to lead ministry geared toward that age group in the Conway area as part of our Wesley Foundation ministry. I have an MDiv from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and have recently earned a certificate in spiritual direction from Perkins School of Theology at SMU. I have served as the Wesley Foundation Director at FUMC since August 2021. Prior to my work at the Wesley, I served as the Director of Pastoral Care at Methodist Family Health, and as the youth/young adult minister at Asbury UMC in Little Rock. I’m passionate about the mental health of young people, and as such am a certified trainer in Adult, Teen, and Youth Mental Health First Aid. I also serve on the board of Mount Eagle Retreat Center and as an adult with the Arkansas Conference Council for Youth Ministry. I love floral prints, bright colors, being outside, and reading on my back porch. My favorite places to visit in the Conway area are Doc’s Coffee, Bell Urban Farmstand, and Cross Creek Sandwich Shop!
